The Turman Gallery at Indiana State College will open a new exhibition Monday, including a collection of artwork that explores the digital world.
The “it from little bit” exhibition will remain on display through December 13, welcoming visitors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and extending to 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The exhibition is a revolutionary idea by physicist John Wheeler who stated that space is built on a foundation of digital data rather than physical compounds. The exhibition will certainly showcase the imaginative results of students from traditional creative art methods with cutting-edge digital tools.
Each student’s work is said to challenge assumptions of identification, experience, or existence and reflects on the idea that truth is shaped by digital information. According to the release, it “discovers how electronic information and the systems that support our devices shape our contemporary media society and how we connect to the world around us.”
Tanmaya Bingham, who serves as the Director of the Art Gallery at Indiana State University in the Department of Art and Style, emphasized the importance of blending traditional art approaches with contemporary digital tools. The artwork produced by the workshop participants pushes the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds, prompting viewers to reflect on how digital society affects our sense of self, and Bingham highlights the critical role that information plays in shaping our existence.
On November 14, from 4 to 6 pm, a special event will be held, giving visitors the opportunity to interact with the practicing musicians and gain insight into their innovative methods and ideas.
